The habits of young Sherbrookois in terms of food and sports activity are again under the microscope, 10 years later. This time, the second survey of young people between the ages of 4 and 17 will also look at their screen time. The data will allow the continuation of the action plan that supports the development of their healthy lifestyle.
The second phase of the “Portrait of young Sherbrooke residents in terms of food, sport and screen time” mobilizes several partners. This second survey was initiated by the Sherbrooke Alliance for Healthy Young People, the CIUSSS of Estrie-CHUS, the Sherbrooke-Region School Board and the Faculty of Science of the Université de Sherbrooke. physical activity of the Université de Sherbrooke.
“We have integrated screen time this year. We wanted to integrate this aspect, see from a point of view of sedentary life, it looks like what (…) 10 years ago, the phone we saw it appear, it was the beginning … The reality is that in 2019, we are made elsewhere. Especially for high school students, in their daily use, when we know that it becomes a tool for most young people, “says Sylvain Turcotte, professor at the Faculty of Sciences of Physical Activity of the UdeS and the one of the project collaborators.
Parents from all Francophone public schools in the region will be involved in the online survey for elementary school children. High school students will be surveyed in the institutions.
