Black community “forgive” Trudeau, Fergus believes
The Liberal candidate in Hull-Aylmer and chair of the Canadian Caucus of Black Parliamentarians during the last term, Greg Fergus, will continue to team up with Justin Trudeau, despite a racially-motivated incident in 2001.
M. Fergus recognizes that the costume worn by his party’s leader in the past “harms” many members of the black community, but believes that Justin Trudeau’s record of inclusion and defense of minorities demonstrates that is not a racist.
“They will forgive him for this mistake because they see that he has a good record for black communities in Canada,” said the outgoing Hull-Aylmer MP.
Greg Fergus claims that Mr. Trudeau called him Wednesday before the news was released to explain.
