Bill 34: loans to Hydro-Sherbrooke customers
Hydro-Sherbrooke will comply with Bill 34 on electricity rates that was passed under the gag at the end of the week.
The ‘re customers of Hydro-Sherbrooke who received at least one bill in their name in 2018 or 2019 will be entitled to a credit.
The amount will be determined based on a percentage of the electricity consumption that was billed to them between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2019, says the municipal corporation.
This percentage will be known towards the end of January 2020, one adds. The rebate will take the form of a credit applied to the electricity bill issued between the end of January 2020 and April 1, 2020, depending on the billing date.
For former customers of Hydro-Sherbrooke, the discount will be paid by check between the end of January 2020 and December 31, 2020. Hydro-Sherbrooke will also put online in January 2020 a form to confirm their current address.
In addition, Hydro-Sherbrooke will apply the tariff freeze provided for by law on April 1, 2020.
Remember that the law aims to freeze electricity rates in 2020, before fixing their increase based on inflation. It is estimated that $ 500 million will be donated to Hydro-Québec’s customers.
