Armed Forces look for missing Cessna
Research is being done to find a Cessna-type aircraft that has disappeared from radar screens in the Valcourt sector.
Sccording to a statement issued by National Defense, the Cessna 172 was to go to Sherbrooke Airport from Mirabel airport Thursday morning.
The plane with a person on board disappeared from radar screens about 37 km northwest of Sherbrooke, in the Valcourt and Saint-Denis-de-Brompton area.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Center at Trenton, Ontario deployed a Hercules aircraft and a Griffon helicopter from 8 Wing Trenton’s Transport and Rescue Squadron.
In addition to the resources deployed by National Defense, an aircraft of the rescue and air search team of Quebec (SERABEC) and a helicopter of the Sûreté du Québec joined the research.
