Adjustments continue at the Phoenix
The Sherbrooke Phœnix has continued its preparatory calendar by winning 4-3 Friday night in Victoriaville against the Tigers. Sherbrookers took the opportunity to make some adjustments on the eve of his last exhibition game.
Thefinal score does not sum up the pace of the game as the Tigers scored two late goals including a 6-on-4 with a few seconds remaining.
“We played an honest game,” said Phoenix head coach Stephane Julien. We made a couple of mistakes, but we did well. We did not give anything. When there was a chance to score Samuel Hlavaj did very well. He saved the furniture when it was time. I am still satisfied. ”
Veteran Alex-Olivier Voyer had a strong game on his return from the Boston Bruins rookie camp. He scored two goals, including victory, and added one assist.
Vincent Anctil, assisted by his brother Julien, and Xavier Parent completed the mark for Sherbrooke. Vincent Sévigny, Samy Paré and Alexander Peresunko took over for Victoriaville.
Samuel Hlavaj did well in front of the Sherbrooke net by stopping 24 of the 27 pucks sent to him.
The Digital Advantage of Birds did well with two successes in five attempts. Stéphane Julien wants to trust his players in this facet of the game.
“With the talent we have, I do not think it’s time to put guidelines,” he says. The guys have enough talent to find solutions. In shorthand we changed a couple of things and the guys respond well. We play aggressive and we will practice it in the last week. ”
The Phoenix will face Saturday the Armada of Blainville-Boidbriand. It will be a final pre-season game for Sherbrooke, which will then have a full week of training with the start of the regular season by hosting the Chicoutimi Saguenéens at the Palais des Sports on Friday. The next day the Gatineau Olympiques will be in Sherbrooke.
“We will still try things, summarizes Stéphane Julien. We do not know yet what we will do at the beginning of the season. The four trios are doing great work so it’s not a problem to put our players against the best of the other team. “
