A two-time match for the Phoenix
The Sherbrooke Phoenix concluded its qualifying schedule on a bad note Saturday bowing to the Armada of Blainville-Boisbriand. Stéphane Julien’s troopers dropped to flag 4-3 after trailing 4-0 with nine minutes remaining.
“We did not work during the first 30 minutes, we lost all our battles, explains head coach Stéphane Julien. The guys came back after, but I really did not like the first part of our game. “
Miguel Tourigny, Benjamin Corbeil, Simon Lavigne and Simon Pinard, at the beginning of the third period, all moved the ropes for the Armada, which was sailing towards an easy win. Patrick Guay, on the power play, Xavier Parent and Bailey Peach, with just under two minutes to go, however, scored back to bring the match within the reach of Sherbrookois who lacked time.
The tone rose at the very end of the meeting. Five minor penalties were awarded while there was no time left on the clock. Jaxon Bellamy and Xavier Parent were notably hunted for unsportsmanlike conduct.
“The guys stood up anyway,” Julien analyzes. Some players wanted to change things by stirring a little. It is correct. The guys were trying to be a bit more physically late in the game. ”
It was Thomas Sigouin who defended the cage of Birds. He stopped 23 of the 27 pucks directed at him.
Stéphane Julien did not stop his choice for the starting goalkeeper next Friday against the Saguenéens Chicoutimi for the opening of the season.
